Your blood donation
saves lives every day
Blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous donors like you. Every donation has the power to save up to three lives and give families their most precious gift: more time together.
Every donation counts
One pint of blood can save multiple lives. Your hour of time gives someone else their tomorrow. Thank you for being the hero in someone's story.
Understanding blood donation
Learn the critical facts about blood donation, from the donation process to how your contribution saves lives in hospitals every day.
The Donation Process
A typical blood donation takes about 10-15 minutes, but the entire process including registration and recovery takes about an hour. You can donate whole blood every 56 days.
Hospital Usage
Blood is used for trauma patients, cancer treatments, surgeries, chronic illnesses, and blood disorders. Emergency rooms need blood on the shelf before emergencies happen.
Storage & Shelf Life
Red blood cells can be stored for up to 42 days, platelets for only 5 days, and plasma up to one year. This is why regular donations are crucial.
Blood Components
One donation can be separated into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—helping multiple patients with different medical needs from a single generous act.
Diversity Matters
Patients are most likely to find a compatible match from donors of the same race or ethnicity. Diverse donors are essential for treating all patients effectively.
Health Benefits
Regular blood donation may reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, help maintain healthy iron levels, and provide free health screenings.
